CODI - Common Troubleshooting Tips

CODI - Common Troubleshooting Tips

Warning
A recent Google Chrome update may be impacting the ability for CODI to communicate with the Nanoimager or Aplo Scope. Please see the "camera stream configuration has failed" secton for potential workarounds

This page outlines common issues encountered when using CODI, and solutions to resolve them.

CODI is very slow, especially during autoEV/autoLNP acquisition

If you notice that autoEV or autoLNP is running extremely slowly during data acquisition, a recent update to Google Chrome may be negatively effecting performance when using graphics acceleration.

To disable graphics acceleration, go to Chrome's Settings -> System -> disable "Use Graphics Acceleration when available", and restart Chrome.

Camera stream configuration has failed

When using CODI to control a Nanoimager, Aplo Scope or Aplo Flow, it is imperative that the web browser can communicate with the instrument via the CODI System App. Recent updates to Google Chrome may fully or partially block this communication.

If you see the "camera stream configuration failed" error, try the following steps to update Google Chrome to the latest version, which contains a fix for this issue:
  1. Close all Chrome windows and restart Chrome. This may trigger an update.
  2. Open the "About Google Chrome" page by clicking on the "..." menu (top right) -> Help -> About Google Chrome.
    1. Verify that you have Version 143.0.7499.41
    2. If you do not, Chrome should trigger an update when you view this page. You may need to click the "Relaunch Chrome" button when the update is complete.
If you continue to have connectino issue, open Google Chrome via the command line and disable the feature which is causing the communication issue:
  1. Click the Windows search bar in the left of the taskbar
  2. Type “cmd“ and press the return key
  3. Paste the following command into the command prompt and press return to run it, making sure to preserve the double quotes: "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --disable-features=NetworkServiceSandbox
Info
Note: If the command in step 3 does not work, please double-check that chrome is installed in this directory

If this does not fix the issue, use another web browser such as Microsoft Edge as a temporary fallback.

Unable to connect to instrument

When using CODI to control a Nanoimager, Aplo Scope or Aplo Flow, it is imperative that the web browser can communicate with the instrument via the CODI System App.

To ensure that this communication can occur, verify that "Local network access" is toggled on in the "Site information" popup in Google Chrome.

"Something went Wrong"

After logging into CODI, you may be presented with a generic "Something went wrong" message that prevents you from perfoming actions in CODI.

To resolve this, it is necessary to delete the web browser’s cache and local storage:
  1. Open Chrome
  2. Click the “…” menu in the top right
  3. Click “Delete Browsing Data…”
  4. Select “All Time” for the time range, then “Delete data”
  5. Refresh the webpage
This will remove all of your website history and log you out of CODI and other web services.
